There are some irregularities in the animation that need to be fixed, but overall it came out good. what do you think? https://youtu.be/7PUCKKS0cCE
Looks nice! Some points I noticed and you might want to look into:
- I’m not a fan of 0 roughness on any material besides maybe glass. The ultra sharp reflections are not common on plastics for example.
- I would also add a bit of a corner radius to the parts that doesn’t have beveled edges like the cogwheel. That will always add a lot to realism since no edge is infinitely sharp. And you don’t need to model them since you can just enter a number in corner radius.
Thanks for the feedback, Oscar! I really appreciate it. Could you point me in the direction of where I can find the corner radius setting? I’d love to try adding it to the parts you mentioned.
You just select the part in the scene tree and you can enter a number at the properties panel. I saw a lot of your parts already had the edges modelled but it’s always really obvious if some don’t since infinite sharp corners won’t reflect any light.
And it’s basically a ‘fake’ round corner but works perfect for smaller parts and saves you all energy/time to actually model them which also makes the model more complex than needed.
Thank you so much!
How do you upload videos in posts? So I can send it not as a link. This is my first day on your wonderful forum.
